Now our independent status allows 100% of our funding to directly support our mutual aid efforts for Black trans people across the country. Obviously, this is incredible news.

Formerly, we were a fiscally sponsored project under Arts Business Collaborative (ABC). Fiscal sponsorship consists of an existing 501(c)(3) nonprofit offering its tax exemption and associated benefits to a charitable project while it seeks its own government-acknowledged tax exemption.

We are no longer associated with Arts Business Collaborative. Please note that as of January, when we acquired our status, our website’s donation platform was updated and those donations come directly to The Okra Project. Donations made to Arts Business Collaborative will no longer support our work. Any donations made to ABC on The Okra Project’s behalf should be canceled and redirected to The Okra Project.
