The Okra Project creates initiatives to provide mutual aid and other resources to the Black Trans community. Please check back frequently as we plan to offer one to two programs or initiatives per quarter.

The Rides and Meals Fund

The Okra Project and Uber bring rides and meals support to Black transgender individuals with assistance to safe transportation and convenient and enriching meals.

The Okra Project x BetterHelp

The Okra Project has established a collaborative partnership with BetterHelp, a renowned provider of mental health and counseling services, in order to extend free and reduced-cost access to these vital resources to individuals who meet the eligibility criteria.

The Flowers Fund

The Flowers Fund is a biannual fund that recognizes, empowers, and celebrates community leaders who consistently uplift and support the Black Trans community. Funds will be granted to one peer-nominated leader in the Black Trans community. As always, Black Trans Femmes to the front.

Winter Utilities Fund

During winter, The Okra Project offers utility relief to those in need. We aim to help individuals afford warmth and comfort by alleviating escalating utility bills, allowing them to focus on their well-being.

Holiday Grocery Assistance Fund

The Okra Project is excited to provide the community with grocery support this holiday season. More details are available in the application below. Resources are limited.

Rental Assistance Fund (NY/NJ)

The Okra Project is excited to provide the community with rental support this winter. More details are available in the application below. Resources are limited.

The Black Trans Joy Fund

During Mental Health Awareness Month, we provided the community with The Black Trans Joy Fund — an unrestricted fund to provide Black trans individuals with support for any mental health related expenses.
